Are you ready to become ATA-certified?

Dear Colleagues,

Are you ready to become ATA-certified? If so, we would like to invite you to join at least two graders from the English>Spanish Workgroup for an intensive practice session on Friday, November 8, 2013, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm during the San Antonio Conference, in parts I and II of “Preparing for ATA’s English>Spanish Certification Exam,” sessions S7 and S13.

The best way to take advantage of our session is to request the passage that will be used in the workshop (an actual retired exam), translate it, and send it back to us. We will review the first 30 translations we receive and incorporate them into a presentation to show what graders expect to see, which renditions are considered acceptable and which would be marked as errors, and most importantly, why points are given to what errors. We will also discuss the language specific guidelines (LSGs) as well as the passage specific guidelines (PSGs) used in grading the E>S certification exams.

After you have registered for the Conference, you can send an email to SanAntonioWorkshop@gmail.com requesting the passage, which will be emailed to you within 48 hours with instructions. The deadline to return your translation to the above-listed address is October 15, 2013. Receipt of your translation will be acknowledged. Remember, this workshop is for people seeking to test their English into Spanish translation skills.

You can also use the above email to ask any pertinent questions. We look forward to seeing you in San Antonio.
